Coupondroid uses cookies. Not many, and not for anything mysterious, but you should know what they do before deciding which ones to allow. This page lists every category we run on coupondroid.com, what each is for, roughly how long it stays on your device, and how to change your mind.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. Next time you load a page, the browser hands it back, so the site can recognize the same device. Related technologies do much the same job — local storage, tracking pixels, parameters added to a link — and everything on this page applies to them too. Cookies cannot run programs or read files on your computer, and cannot tell us your name unless you typed it somewhere.
How consent works here
The first time you arrive you get a banner. Essential cookies load either way, because without them there is no working site. Analytics and affiliate cookies wait for your answer. If you decline, you still get everything: every coupon, every store page, every article. Nothing on Coupondroid is locked behind consent.
The categories we use
1. Strictly necessary cookies
- What they do: keep the site running — sending you to the right country version, load balancing, security and anti-abuse checks, and remembering the choice you made in the cookie banner so we stop asking.
- Who sets them: Coupondroid, plus our hosting and content delivery provider.
- Roughly how long: most expire when you close the browser; the record of your cookie choice lasts up to 12 months and security cookies up to 30 days.
- Can you refuse them? No, and there is no consent to give: without them the site does not function.
2. Analytics cookies
- What they do: count visits and show us which store pages, coupons and articles people actually use, and whether a change we made helped or hurt. We read these numbers in aggregate. The point is deciding where to spend our verification time, not following you around.
- Who sets them: our web analytics provider, as a third party.
- Roughly how long: from a single session up to 24 months, depending on the cookie.
- Can you refuse them? Yes, and nothing changes for you if you do.
3. Affiliate and attribution cookies
- What they do: this is the category that pays for Coupondroid. When you click a coupon or a deal, the affiliate network and the store record that the visit came from us. If you buy, the store credits us a commission. Your price does not change because of it — see how Coupondroid makes money.
- Who sets them: the affiliate networks we work with and the merchants themselves, on their own domains once you have left our site.
- Roughly how long: the attribution window is set by each program and usually runs from 24 hours to 30 days, occasionally longer.
- Can you refuse them? Yes. The site behaves exactly the same; we simply are not paid for that visit.
The exact names, providers and lifetimes are listed inside the cookie banner, which governs if it differs from this summary.
Cookies set by other companies
The moment you click through to a store you are on their website, under their cookie policy and their privacy policy, not ours. The same is true of any video or map embedded in one of our articles. We have no control over what those companies store and cannot delete it for you, so theirs are the policies to read.
How to change or withdraw your consent
Three ways, all available at any time:
- Reopen our cookie settings. The link in the footer of every page brings the banner back so you can accept or reject each non-essential category again. The new choice replaces the old one immediately.
- Send a Global Privacy Control signal. If your browser or a privacy extension sends GPC, we treat it as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, as the CCPA regulations on opt-out preference signals require (Cal. Code Regs. tit. 11, § 7025) and as the Colorado and Connecticut privacy laws require for universal opt-out mechanisms. It applies to the browser sending it, so turn it on everywhere you browse.
- Use your browser. Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge all let you block or delete cookies for one site or for everything, from the privacy section of their settings. Deleting ours also deletes the record of your consent, so the banner will ask again.
California residents can also use the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information option described in our Privacy Policy, or simply email [email protected] and we will handle it manually and confirm when it is done.
What we do not do with cookies
We do not build advertising profiles about you, we do not run retargeting campaigns, and we do not sell cookie data to data brokers. Coupondroid has no ad inventory to fill: our revenue is affiliate commission. That is why the affiliate category exists and an advertising category does not.
Changes to this policy
If we add a tool or drop one, this page changes with it, and the date below tells you when that last happened. If we have not answered your question here, write to [email protected].
