Coupondroid earns a commission when you use our links to buy something. You pay the same price either way. That sentence is the whole disclosure. The rest of this page explains how it works, what it changes and what it does not.
The short version
Coupondroid is free to use. No subscription, no account, nothing to pay. What funds the site is affiliate marketing: when you click a coupon or a deal here and then buy at the store, the store pays us a referral commission out of its own marketing budget. Your total at checkout is the same as it would have been if you had typed the store's address into your browser yourself — except that you may now have a working discount code, which is rather the point.
How the money actually works
Most retailers run an affiliate program, usually through a network. We apply; if we are accepted, our links to that store carry a tracking parameter. When you click, the network records that the visit came from Coupondroid and stores a cookie on your device. If you buy within that program's attribution window — typically 24 hours to 30 days — the sale is credited to us, and the store pays a percentage or a flat fee, often only once the return period has closed.
Two useful things follow. We are usually paid after you are happy rather than before: if you return the item, the commission is normally reversed with it. And the reporting we see is a sale and an amount — the networks do not send us your name, your address or the contents of your cart.
What it does not change: your price
A commission is not a markup. Stores set prices for everyone, and the affiliate fee comes out of the store's side of the transaction, not out of yours. If we ever found a program that charged shoppers more for arriving through us, we would leave it.
What it does not buy: our coupon list
Commission rates do not decide what we publish or how we order it. We aim to lead with the codes that save the most, including codes from stores that pay us nothing. When a well-paying retailer's code stops working, it comes down like any other, as soon as we know.
We also do not write fake reviews, invent expiration countdowns, or publish a code we have no reason to believe works. What we cannot always know is whether a code is capped to certain products, new customers or a minimum basket, because stores are not obliged to tell us. When we know, it is written on the coupon.
Why you are reading this at all
Because the law requires it, and because we would say it anyway. The Federal Trade Commission's Guides Concerning Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 CFR Part 255) require that a material connection between a publisher and a seller — an affiliate commission is the textbook example — be disclosed clearly and conspicuously (16 CFR § 255.5). The Guides define that as difficult to miss and easily understandable by ordinary consumers (16 CFR § 255.0(f)). A line buried in a footer nobody opens does not qualify, which is why a plain-language note about affiliate links also appears on our store pages and in our articles.
The part we cannot help with
We are not the seller. Coupondroid takes no payment, holds no stock, ships nothing and processes no returns. Your purchase contract is with the store, so refunds, warranty claims, delivery problems and cancellations go to that store's customer service. Worth knowing before you buy: there is no federal law in the United States giving you a general right to return an online purchase because you changed your mind — each retailer sets its own return policy, so read it first. Shipping is different. Under the FTC's Mail, Internet, or Telephone Order Merchandise Rule (16 CFR Part 435), a seller that cannot ship within the time it advertised, or within 30 days if it advertised none, has to obtain your agreement to the delay or refund you.
